Reflections on 2008

I just realised the perfect way to describe this year...

It's like the season finale of a show that might get cancelled. Heaps of stuff happens, lots of things that were set up earlier get paid off and are finished with, but have changed the dramatic landscape permanently. There's a mix of new beginnings and sad endings, disasters and surprise revelations. A bunch of things are set up for possible development next season, some slyly set in motion so gently you might miss them, others so obvious you think nobody could be that simple, but you can't really tell where they're taking any of it because it only exists as possibility. That's kinda how it feels now that it's almost over. An action packed season finale. Tightly paced, never dull, exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure.

Here's hoping there's some amazing and deeply humane writers working on next year, because I'm knackered from this one, but I also can't wait to see what happens next.

Slumdog Millionaire

A grim story with a happy ending, like most good fairy tales. Read the review here.
